ILC Cancer

Feb 26 I found out I had ILC breast cancer.  Last week they finally schedule my surgey for April 29th. I could not believe I have to wait 7 weeks to get this done.  I called the surgeon 2 days ago to make sure this is ok. Is this a normal waiting period for this type of cancer or should I find another surgeon.

Dear Stacy756,  It is difficult to comment on the scheduling of procedures at different facilities.  There are many factors that come into play in scheduling of procedures such as the urgency of the situation (what is known about the individual's case from pre-surgical testing), the schedules of the surgeons and facilities, if there is any coordinating of surgeons (ie. plastic surgeon involved as well?).    It is better to discuss your concerns with the surgeon and office who can discuss the timing of surgery as it relates to your individual case.
