Iam confused

I went through the usual ropes call back after mamogram for supicious microcalfications (very small) iam told. Had second mamogram, ultrasound, and then a excisional biospy. My surgreon  called me with results that the pathologist found no signs of cancer. But he saw no white spots. What happened? He wants me to have a follow up mamogram in 3 months. If the tissue has no cancer why another mamogram is that the usual procedure.

Hi,
Yes it is rather puzzling that a 3 months follow up Mammogram is needed when your excisional biopsy resulted in benign findings. My guess would be that there could be some inconsistency with the path report and your mammogram films. Did you ask your Surgeon about this matter? In any case I wouldn’t hesitate, if I were you, to go ahead and follow your doctor’s recommendation just to make sure that nothing has been missed when you had your biopsy procedure and for your own peace of mind..
Best wishes…
