I wrote the other say about the 12 core biopsies i had - today the hospital has diagnosed Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis and prescribed steroids and antibiotics.
What is the prognosis from here and are there any good sources to check out?

Dear markk, This diagnosis is a benign (non-cancerous) finding, and is basically describing a inflammatory process in the breast tissue(granulomatous mastitis), the cause of which is unknown (idiopathic).
Granulomas which are tumors or nodules containing cells that are present during inflammatory processes. Part of the body's immune system are cells that go to the site of an infection, injury, or invasion by a foreign substance. These cells cause an inflammatory response. Idiopathic means they were not able to tell what the initiating cause of the inflammatory process was. Steroids are used to decrease the inflammatory response, and antibiotics are used in case there is an underlying infection.
