I'm sorry if this is the wrong place but I have found a lump and I need help

Sorry, but this is not about breat cancer. I need to ask someone who can help me, and I cannot find a forum more appropriate than this. I have found a lump at the top of my thigh, at the join of my leg and my pubic region. It hurts if I touch it with some pressure, and is slightly red, but not very hard. I am probably wrong about it, as it appeared about the same time that I got two mosquito bites on my arm, so I am hoping it is another one of them. However, they did not hurt as much to touch and were not quite as large. Should I be worried? I have had it for a couple of days, and the bites on my arm are still there, but going. Should I wait a few days to see if it goes or worry now?

Dear JK7, If it causing much discomfort, worsening rather than getting better, your best bet would be to have this checked out by a health care professional.

It's impossible to diagnose a lump over the internet. What you describe could be any of several things: an inflamed lymph node (from reaction to the bites, or infection from them), some sort of infected cyst, or possibly a femoral hernia. If it's only been a couple of days, and you are not having fevers or nausea or any other symptoms it's probably safe to apply some heat to it and see how it goes for a day or two. But if it's getting larger, redder, or if you get a fever or other symptoms of being sick, you need to have it checked. And, since I can't see or feel it, I really must say this comment could be entirely wrong. The way to be sure is to have it checked.
