Inflamed red lump

I have a lump on the side of my breast, it is red and swollen and hurts. It has been there for along time, and it was small and never bothered me. My question is, I'm not sure what kind of doctor to go to. I do not have health insurance , so I don't want to be sent from one doctor to another. If it is just a cyst, I would like to know the type of doctor I should see, that could take care of this.
I'm not a doctor person, I've always been healthy and do not have any regular doctors that I see.
I'm 47 years old. If you could respond as soon as possible I would greatly appreciate it.

Dear Wisper, A general surgeon with a special interest in breast disease would be able to start the evaluation process of this lump and be able to take care of the drainage or removal of the lump if necessary.

I just want to thank you for your advice. I did just what you said. It was just a cyst, but it was also infected. I guess thats what was making me feel so ill. He gave me a local ,then opened it up and put a drain in it. Its still very painful. I'm going back today so he can take the drain out. Tahnk you again.

i've recently found a lump in my breast it was red a very pain full for a few day, the lump has got smaller and the pain has calmed down but still hurts a bit, im just wanting to know what the lump is in scared to tell my mother and ask my freinds about it should i go to a doctor or tell my mum first ?
