Inflammatory breast cancer symptom?

Hi,

I recently had an axillary lymph node biopsy at Mayo b/c I have an elevated sed rate, lymphadenopathy (axillary, groin, supraclavicular, cervical), and PET scan showed fdg uptake in several nodes.  Also polyclonal hypergammaglobulinemia on labs, but not much else after many tests.  Biopsy was of just one 1.5 cm node, showed only reactive lymphoid hyperplasia and I was sent home.  Several weeks after the biopsy, some tight cords on the breast (left) several inches under the incision have appeared, the breast is a little puffy between them, and I have occasional mild breast pain.  The left breast used to be smaller than my right, is now a little larger.  OB-GYN exam 3 days ago said get 2nd opinion and mammogram, scheduled for 2 days from now.  Maybe it is IBC, though, which won't show on mammo.  Is the commonly cited symptom "ridges on skin" talking about an indentation going into the skin or skin that sticks up?  My "ridges" go INTO the skin, in two areas, several inches long.  Worried.  What to do?  Have appt. w/oncologist but not for another week and a half.  Should I press for sooner?
Thanks,
Wondering 1714

Dear Wondering 1714:  Inflammatory breast cancer usually presents as a red, hot and swollen breast; the skin can resemble orange peel.  Without evaluation, it is impossible to speculate on what may be happening in your case.  Given the recent biopsy, it may be possible that you are having a post operative complication?  If you are concerned, you might contact the surgeon at Mayo and/or see if you can reschedule your appointment for sooner.
