Information needed regarding lung nodule and fatty liver infiltration

by sher21855, Jan 12, 2008 12:46AM
Hi, Last Feb. I began 6 months of chemo, followed by bilateral mastectomys, and then 5 weeks of radiation. My recent CT showed a new small lung nodule, (never had any before) and small fatty infiltration of the liver. (I'm not heavy and am not an alcoholic) What could these results mean? ? mets. I am concerned as neither of these things showed up on any prior scans/tests. Thanks.

Dear sher12855:  Without reviewing the scans with a radiologist, it is impossible for us to provide any interpretation of these results.  The radiologist will be best equipped to interpret the results along with your oncologist – regarding further characterization of the lung nodule.  A fatty infiltration of the liver is generally a benign finding but you should discuss all of this with your oncologist.

Hello.  I had a double mast in 06 from breast cancer.  I had a CT that shown spots in liver.  They watched them ever 3 months and they did not grow and they kept watching.  They gave me a PET scan at 8 months because I had a new spot in lung that was not normal.  The spots didn't hightlight on PET so they were not concerned.

During those 8 month tests they found a new spot in lung that was there before.  However the PET didn't hightlight so they were not worried.  They say the new spot on lung might have been a result if a scar or an infection.

I just had another PET and CT - almost a year from last CT and PET.  They liver spots and lung spot is still there and have not changed in size.  This is a good thing they tell me.

I am sure that they are suggested you to have it look at again.  I would suggest you ask for a CT/PET in 6 weeks and then again in 3 months.  I guess if it grows it's not good so keep a close on them.  Not clear on the small fatty infiltration of the liver.

Hope some of this helps you.
