Insurance Coverage

by bobusa, Nov 17, 2008 01:12PM
Hi there recently my wife had pain in her breast so we got a mammogram done on 10/08/2008 . I paid cash for the mammogram. the doctors then suggested to do a needle biopsy. I apply for insurance on the same day as mammogram and get approved 2 days later insurance starts. I visit a general surgeon on 10/15/2008 and he asks my wife when she started getting pain and she replied 2 WEEKS OR SO. THE DOCTOR TELLS US HE DOESNOT THINK ITS CANCER as cancer normally doesnot pain. So we ask him whats the next step. He tells us to do a surgery instead of needle biopsy. We agree. On 10/20/2008 we go in for the surgery and while hes operating my wife he sends the tissue  for pathology report. IT COMES BACK AS CANCER STAGE 2 AND SO HE REMOVES HER BREAST. Now we got to do chemotheraphy for 8 weeks once every three weeks. The insurance company told the doctor that it was preexisting. Is it true. As it was daigonosed only on 10/20/2008 and my insurance coverage started on 10/10/2008. Also we were completely unaware of it till then. They also asked my doctor to send in the pathology report and his report and date we met him. They also asked if my wife ever visited doctors in last five years. the answer to that is she has never visited any doctor  in last 11 years besides my daughters birth time which was in 1999 and 2000 . Thats all should be there on her medical record. Also when i logg in to the insurance website it shows the hospital bill and doctors bill as paid. Please advise ur inputs on the same.
thanks
bob
