Inverted Nipple

I am 26 yo F.  I have always had lumps in my breasts.  For the past year or so my nipples have also started to point up, and invert in.  My PCP has told me when I asked about breat cancer that I am to young to even worry about it...but this is always on my mind.

Is this something to be worried about?  I know I need to do monthly tests, but I always feel lumps so it's hard to tell if there is a new one or one I should be worried about.

Last I talked to my PCP he said he felt lumps and that if I wanted I could have them removed.  This was like four years ago...

Today my breast was bothering me, it was itchy and when I would rub or scratch at it it would hurt.  I was looking at them in the mirror and such later tonight and when I lifted my arms up my nipples (didn't pucker) but the skin around it looked more wrinkled then normal.

Am I just being paranoid?  I know I need to see a doctor but until I can get an appointment some peace of mind would be nice!

Thanks!

You needn't be embarrased at all!  A lot of young woman don't see an OBGYN regularly.  It's ok, find one you like and get things checked out.  It's by no means too late!  I'm glad you're in touch with your health.

Let me know how you are, ok?

Thanks, this is embarrassing, but I only seen an OBGYN once and I don't even have one assigned!  Yikes!!

Take care,

Kim

Hi,

Sorry it took so long to answer!  My first impression from reading your question is that you should see your ob/gyne about this.   The likelihood of a cancer diagnosis at your age is very low.  I do, however, think it's important for you to have a relationship with an OB/Gyne who knows your breasts and has a baseline idea of your anatomy.  Please see an ob/gyne as soon as possible, ok?

If you have any other questions, please feel free to write as often as you need to!

Warmly,

Chris
