Is calcificaton a cancer?

Hi,

I had a mastectomy done on my left breast a year ago, have had 6 rounds of chemo and into last anti body therapy (Herceptin) this coming March. Had my yearly mammogram done on my right breast twice as I had a cacification, I just underwent a biopsy to further determine the calcification stage.

I am worried that perhaps i might have a cancer on my right breast. Is having calcification another form of cancer?
Would appreciate any answer.

Thanks

Calcifications in and of themselves are not cancer. They are an indication that the breast tissue is reacting to some abnormality within the breast. They are only a cause for concern when they are seen in clusters or groups; scattered about they are a normal finding. Regards .....
