Is this normal?

I have just recently got some soreness on my right armpit. I think there is a lump. It has only just started to hurt, what is it? and what shall I do? Please help, I'm only 16.

Go to the doctor. The lymph nodes are under the arm and sometimes they could be infected. When breast cancer happens surgeons do a sentinel node biopsy to see if it has spread. Please call your GP if you do not have an OB/GYN and schedule an appointment. If they blow you off and say its nothing go to a breast surgeon. It could save your life.

How are you? An armpit lump refers to enlargement of one or more lymph nodes under the arm. Abscesses under the skin may produce large, painful lumps in the armpit.On the other hand, infections and cysts on the surface of the skin of the armpit may be due to shaving or use of antiperspirants. Lumps may also occur when lymph nodes are swollen due to bacterial or viral infections. It would be best to see your doctor for proper evaluation and management. Take care and keep us posted.
