Itchy aereola

I have had an itchy patch on the edge my aereola for about a week now.   It looks similar to exzema and is about 1/4 inch in diameter.   Almost 4 years ago I had two lumpectomies  on the same breast -- stage 2.  I did chemo and radiation.

I have a follow up appointment with my oncologist in about 3 months....do you think I should try to get in earlier, or can it wait?

thanks Brenda

Hi,

You could apply calamine lotion and take OTC antihistamine medications for a few days and see if the lesion subsides.

If the itchiness still persists, it would be best to consult your doctor or oncologist earlier and get a clinical examination done.

Do keep us posted about how you are doing.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Hi.
The itchiness could be due to a skin disease (dermatitis).
However, it would be best to consult your oncologist now for proper evaluation and management.  Perhaps a skin scraping can be done to rule out the possibility of a fungal infection.
Good luck.
