Joint & Bone pain long after chemo

Joint & Bone pain long after chemo

My last chemo treatment was in June 2009 and I also took a research drug called Sutent that continued until Sept 2009.  I have had continued bone and joint pain and it keeps me up at night.  I am very restless and can't get comfortable.  Advil, Aleve, Tylonel do not help much.  I have had a bone scan when I complained about it to my oncologist a few months ago but nothing came up.  Looks like something needs to be researched on the long term side effects of this chemo drug.  I feel so old and I am 52 yrs old.  I need something for the pain!!!   I had taxol in 2006 (with no joint or bone pain) but this latest chemo treatment has really hit me hard after the fact.

I think it would be very reasonable to ask your doctor for a stronger pain medication like vicodin, or at least darvocet. The problem with these drugs is that they may make your sleeping even more problematic. I cannot sleep on them.

But then there is also  Tramadol which is an excellent painkiller.

With all of these stronger pain meds, there are of course the risks of them being habit forming, but really, what's the bigger problem, your pain or...?

Volteren is another one that is very strong but not habit forming, yet it's hard on your stomach.

Just some ideas and suggestions.
