Ki67

Are there additional therapies typically used to treat women who have the Ki67 biomarker. Mine is measured at 20%.

Hi there.

Presently, the Ki-67 marker is not yet a standard procedure and the prognostic significance is still not definite.  Though this portends to a possible poor prognosis and a more aggressive behavior of cancer, there is no targeted agent for this (in contrast with Herceptin for Her2neu) that has shown promise.  The presence of this marker would just prompt the doctors to be more aggressive with the treatment like with the choosing of the chemotherapy agents to use (would probably be more inclined to use taxanes: Taxol or Taxotere).
