LCIS - Atypical lobular hyperplasia - Fibroadenoma

by besweet514, Aug 10, 2009 12:55PM
Hi,
I had a lump removed from my left breast and the pathological report came back stating that they've found the following:
fibroadenoma - LCIS  and Atypical lobular hyperplasia.
they've explained me that this is NO cancer but that with those results I'm finding myself in a higher risk category to get breast cancer.
My question is: I had in MArch 09 a Mirena IUD inserted: (birthcontrol and to do somthing about my heavy menstrual bleedings) and could this have had an impact on my breast,... hence the lump ?

Dear besweet514:  The jury is still out on whether or not hormonal birth control contributes to the development of breast cancer or not.  Some studies suggest it might and others have not suggested it.  In terms of an individual, it is impossible to know whether the IUD had anything to do with this development or not.
