Lump in armpit and change in breast size.

Hi,
My wife has posted here before. I guess I have a few questions of my own. She does have a lump in her armpit, I felt it and compaired it to the other side. She said there is a prickly sensation and the sensation seems to be spreading into a laeger area. She also said it feels like she has padding laying on the top of her breast. Also, her breast have changed in size. Her right breast ( the side with the lump ) looks as if it has shrunk. It is atleast a size and a half smaller. I noticed right away. I am a very protective husband. I guess what I am wanting to know is, should I be concerned?

Dear mcilvain:  Without evaluation, including breast examination, it is impossible to speculate on what this might be and whether there is any cause for concern.  A lump in the armpit could be many things.  Your wife should be evaluated by her physician who can do an examination and recommend additional evaluation, if needed.

A lump in the armpit could be an enlarged lymph node which can have several causes. I trust that your wife has seen her Physician about this problem as anything new or different concerning the breast should be ck'd out immediately. After a clinical examination her Physician could tell you if you need to be concerned.  Regards .....
