Lump in my armpit

by emmasmom25, Dec 21, 2008 03:27PM
Hi, I have had some discomfort in my left armpit (towards the bottom) for a long time (about 8 months) the first time I brought this up to my PA she said i was to young to have breast cancer and said it was probley just a swollen lympnode.(did not even look at it)and I believe her but now it has gotten worse over time and has gotten painfull, it is in deep so it was very hard to pinpoint the lump but i did and because its so painfull ,I feel it may be bigger and gos in more and I just can't feel it with my finger. I am going to bring it up again to my PA and demand a ultrasound. Can you tell me what it may be? Or what it sounds like? Thank you.

Dear emmasmom25, A lump in the armpit can be due to many things, including a  swollen lymph node.  Without ability to evaluate including physical examination it is impossible over the internet to say for sure what may be causing your symptoms.  As this continues to be a problem for you and it hasn't been evaluated and examined - having it checked would be advised.
