I do think you are within your rights to request that the suspicious area be removed. If there were mantion of "atypia" there would be no question as surgical removal is fairly routine in those cases. It's good that you have a responsive Surgeon who will listen to your concerns. Good luck on Tuesday .....
I go on Tuesday to discuss this with my surgeon. The Radiologist who did the biopsy last week was disappointed because he could not get a good core sample, this was a stereotactic(?) biopsy and the lesion kept rolling away from the needle. I really don't want to have another biopsy like that, it was very painful because of the several attempts. I guess I will just discuss my concerns, I have found my surgeon to be responsive to my concerns up to this point. But as many of you will understand, if it is not cancer now, but could be later, am I justified in just wanting this lesion removed?
It would depend on the complete Pathology report from your recent biopsy. The word "atypia" would be one important factor; whether the hyperplasia is accompanied with or without atypia. You need to go over the entire report in detail with your prescribing Physician OR your Surgeon for a recommendation as to the next step in your particular case. Regards .....
What did your doctor say about this? What is his/her opinion or advice? Katrin
