I am having surgery for a breast biopsy. When I received the notice for theappointment. it was referred to as a lumpectomy but I was told it was an excisional biopsy and that the entire lession would be removed for evaluation. I can see the surface veins in my breast and am wondering if they could possibly sever my vein during the procedure and what would be the results in the event of that happening? My surgeon did not seem concerned about that but I do have surface veins there. Also does anyone know of any effects that could develop as a result of the surgery? Any info on the actual healing time. ( I am elderly) Any info as what to expect would be helpful.
Thank you.
Hi. I am marifel. I had a lumpectomy on my right breast last Aug.23, 2008.
My surgery was fine. Our surgeon knows best for us. Pain lasted
for almost five months, but some says it varies on others too.
Pain is bearable with antibiotics and analgesics. Wound healed faster.
Just make sure to have a clean towel placed in between ur wound
and bra to give enough pressurePressure ulcer to prevent dischargesAbnormal discharge from the nipple Ear discharge Eye burning - itching and discharge Nasal discharge Nipple discharge - abnormal Urethral discharge culture Vaginal discharge and to ease pain too.
Follow ur surgeon's advice. U can ask ur surgeon too if they will do the dressing
and cleaning. In my case, the surgeon and his nurse did the cleaning
and dressing. By the way, I hv visible veins on my skin too.
Dont wori, u will be fine.
