Lumps

Would a small lump under your armpit be something to worry about?

by CCF-RN,MSN-rf, Apr 30, 2001 12:00AM
Dear Buggirl:  A small lump in the arm pit could be anything from a pimple to an ingrown hair to a lymph node.  It is difficult to say, without the ability to evaluate this “lump,” whether it is anything to be concerned about or not.  Some questions would be how large is the lump?  Has it gotten any larger?  How long has it been there?  How old are you?  Is there any history of breast cancer in the family?  Of course, each of these questions may lead to additional questions.  But, without an exam, it is be impossible to tell.  If this lump has been there more than 2 weeks and/or it has gotten larger, you may wish to make an appointment with your doctor for further evaluation.
