Lymph Node

Lymph Node

I have been having a lot of pain in my left breast for about 4 months.
I had mastitis 2 times one right after another about 6 months ago.
I am breast feeding. I had an ultrsound done and it showed that
my lymph node is swollen. My ultrasound Dr. said that it is still swollen from
the mastitis but my reg. Dr. said that the swelling should be gone and
made me an apt for a sergon. No one has told me much of anything. Should
I be worried about cancer?

It could still be a swollen lymph node.  If the ultrasound doc thinks so, then possibly.  However, it never hurts to consult a breast surgeon to get their opinion.

I was diagnosed with a lactating adenoma, no lymph node issues, while breast feeding.  About 4 months later, I had it biopsied and it was cancerous.  SAYING THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE CANCER!

Personnally, don't worry until you need to.  Talk with the breast doc, get his voice on the issue.  If he wants to do a biopsy...stop breastfeeding first.  Are you at a point where you feel comfortable weening your child?  I had to ween early with my first daughter because I got pregnant again.  My pregnancies were difficult to achieve and sustain, so that made it necessary.  I got a biopsy at 7 weeks pregnant and a mastectomy at 8 weeks.

Saying all that...whatever the outcome, have faith.
Best of luck!

PS:  I did NOT have any pain at all, whatsoever.

Wow you have been threw a lot. You are one strong girl. I know I shouldn't worry I need to just have faith but no matter how much I tell myself that I still seem to worry.

I know it is said that breast cancer don't typically hurt so that makes me feel better. I just really want the pain gone. It's now spread to my arm pit. It mainly hurts to the touch, when I move my arm or when I lay on that side. I can't get into the surgeon until Dec. 6. My doc asked for them to put me on a cancellation list and get me in ASAP. I called yesterday and 20 people are ahead of me.
That being said I decided to asked my doc for a referral to a breast center so I can get this taken care of faster.

Yes if I have to have a biopsy I will stop breast feeding. I'm not ready to do so, my plan were so breast feed until my daughter was a year but I know stopping will be best. I also have a nine year old and didn't get to breast feed her to long so I was hoping to continue with her sister.

Thanks for your inspiration!

Note:  lhughes and lhughes69 are one in the same.

I know, saying "don't worry" is like saying "don't breathe".  I hope you can get in sooner rather than later so you can know for sure.  Have you talked with a lactation consultant?  Do you have those in your area?  They might could give you some information on your problem since you've had mastitis.  Don't you just love mastitis?  I had it twice also.  And I so missed getting to breastfeed my little one.  It's just a special time (except when they go on a feeding binge and that's all you do all day long.).   :)

If it continues to hurt and spread, maybe you should ask your reg doc to put you on some high powered antibiotics to see if that would help.  I know that some of them cannot be used while breastfeeding so you may be limited.  It really sounds like you have an infection that has not cleared up.  But, I'm no expert.

I have been having the same symptoms you have. Except my left breast has doubled in size and the pain now generates all the way down to my fingetips on the left side. It also hurts to lay on that size or to have something bump into it. My concern is I am only 22 and I am not pregnant, I have not breast-fed in a very long time. I am waiting for my appointment to see my doctor, and I am strongly praying that it will be just a breast infection. However, I have been doing a lot of research and I have my fear on what it is. I will be praying for you and hope that everything gets better for you.
