Lymphedema - Why no Forum for this?

by Nancy_LA_MA, Jul 14, 2009 11:32PM
I enrolled with medhelp.org, looking for information and possibly a support group for lymphedema but there isn't one here.

There are posts I've looked at in this Forum where lymphedema is mentioned - but it seems to me that there needs to be a Forum specifically for lymphedema.

There are many who know they have lymphedema and are living with it (in and out of treatment for it) - all kinds, more than that following breast cancer.  I attend a small lymphedema support group in the next town and there are people who have primary lymphedema and those who have lymphedema following surgery (breast cancer & other surgeries).  I had hoped to find a larger group here to supplement the exchanges we have in the local group.

My Question:  How are Forums formed?

I don't know why medhelp has no Lymphedema Forum, but if you google for this, you will find places that do provide both information and support.

One Web site that might be helpful is lymphedemapeople.com

You might try (bcsupport.org) .... there are several sections on the left of the home page and the last one is "Lymphedema" ... this is a pt. to pt. discussion group and many of the women who post there have years of experience and are more than willing to share.     Regards ....

google lymphadema and they usually come up with .org sites :)

Did you know there is a surgeon in New Orleans taking lymphnodes from one part of the body and putting them elsewhere? Google Marga Massey and look at what she can do!!

Thanks, everyone!  I'll follow up on the suggestions made.

Still think this site would be an excellent place for a Lymphedema forum...
