Although I did not have breast surgery, I have had 13 surgeries in less than 3 years and I know the feelings of adhesions. I have had them removed only to create more adhesions. It is an endless cycle for some people who suffer from scar tissue formation. All your symptoms sound exactly like scar tissue formation and it is painful. I hope you can get help from a really good surgeon who knows about adhesions.
I had a double mastectomy last June, chemotherapy and then placed on Tamoxifin Dec 1st. By January 1st (2003) I had horrible muscle pain, joint pain and muscle cramps (among other side effects). I was advised by my doctor to quit the Tamoxifin. That was over a month ago. I still have muscle pain and muscle cramping but now only in my calves and one arm. Is your sister taking Tamoxifin? I have implants as well and also have pain where the drains were. It's not constant and I'm assuming it will go away eventually. My plastic surgeon said it is possible that it will never completely go away. Good luck, Susan K.
THANKYOU FILM, I WILL PASS THIS ON TO MY SISTER.
THANKYOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP AND SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING, SOMEOME SOMEWHERE WILL HAVE AN ANSWER FOR MY SISTER, I HOPE.I JUST FEEL SO HELPLESS FOR HER, AND I AM TRYING TO HELP IN THE ONLY WAY I KNOW. TY ONCE AGIN.
DEAR JAPDIP, SORRY FOR MY ARTICLE I PLACED IT IN THE WRONG BOX.
I AM NEW TO THIS FORUM.
Has she check this out with her plastic surgeon? Could be capsular contraction (formation of scar tissue) around the implant.
SORRY I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT THE PAIN MY SISTER IS HAVING IS MAINLY AROUND THE SILICONE SALINE WATER IMPLANT, DOES THIS MAKE A DIFFERANCE ? THANKYOU.
THANKYOU FOR YOUR REPLY, THE PAIN IS CLASSED AS NEURALGIC PAIN, BUT TWO PAINS ARE A MUSCLE PAIN, AND NERVE ENDINGS, AND SHE HAS HAD BOTH CHEMO AND RADIO THERAPY.
SHE HAS CONSULTED DRS AND SPECIALISTS, AND SHE IS NOT DEPRESSED.
THE TABLETS SHE IS ON HELPS THE NERVE ENDINGS BUT NOT THE OTHER PAIN SHE IS EXPERIANCING WHICH SHE HAS CONSTANTLY, AND CANNOT DESCRIBE.THANKYOU VERY MUCH.
Dear que: What type of pain is your sister having. By 18 months post-operative pain should be resolved. Persistent pain can be caused by scar tissue. Also, her anatomy is different than before. She should discuss this with her surgeon and perhaps seek a consultation from an occupational therapist. I am unsure why she has no energy. Did she have radiation therapy or chemotherapy? Sometimes these therapies can cause fatigue and it can take a while to recover. Also, if she is depressed this could contribute to her lack of energy. She needs to discuss this with her doctors so that a solution can be identified.
