Mammo/ultrasound concern ....

Mammo/ultrasound concern ....

Had  diagnostic mammo/ultrasound(history of dense and fiborcystic)-- the radiologist had me repeat 2 x on both and 3 on the right, did a twist thing twice. Ultra sound girl who I've known for years, did not see any change in right and said that I had a small on left, that was most likely why he had so many taken. (not to worry)... got my LETTER from the hosp. where they did the test... box checked off for Follow- up and written beside in pen was '6 months'... I called my gyn.office.. closed for the day (Friday).. called reg. dr. they had the report and what the girl could see, it was being called a cyst... I believe she said 3mm.  could be seen w/ some films others not. Could be possible fibroid, cyst, or lymphnode.. follow up in 6 months.. Ok, have to call gyn.. which has not called me.. Should I be freaking out?? I have had an aspiration 20 years ago and used to see a breast surgeon... ultra. every 6 months on other breast..... I have lost 27 pounds... maybe this could make it look different?? I am very small breast, barely an A, and dense..... If it was something bad, would they not have me back like, tomorrow???!!!

I see no reason to "freak out" over a cyst or a fibroadenoma; both of which are benign findings. When there is any change in the films it's not unusual to follow-up in less than the normal 1 year to track any change that may occur in the size of whatever was seen. Cysts and Fibroadenomas are not unusual findings and are no particular cause for concern. Just follow the recommendation of the 6 month re-check.  Regards ....

Thanks.. I will find out more when I call my gyn.... and reg. dr. appt. in a couple of weeks.. thanks so much!  I figure at this point, I just deal w / it... and keep up w/ those follow-ups... preventative care..!  Best to you, too!!
