Melanoma/Mammogram

I have got called back to discuss results of a skin biopsy of the breast.  I know the results are not what I wanted due to they informed me they have to take more.  My question is I am only 29 but have a strong family history of melanoma and if this biopsy come's back as melanoma and they have to cut deeper, would it be smart to ask for a mammogram?  But can a mammogram catch melanoma?  Thank you!

Hi,

If this turns out to be a melanoma  it would  be treated as a serious skin cancer that happened to occur on the breast, not as breast cancer.

Once the full pathology report is back, your treament team will be able to advise you regarding what  further evaluation needs to be done.

Best wishes,
