Mild underarm pain

Mild underarm pain

I am almost 35 and am in good health.

Just this week I have experienced mild underarm pain; it started with just the right side but now it's on both sides. I don't think I injured my self in any way and the pain is not severe - just noticeable. I haven't felt any lumps, but I didn't try very hard.

It's almost time for my period to start and I consume more caffiene than recommended (my only true vice). Could these be the cause? More importantly, how do I know if this is no big deal or something serious that my doctor needs to investigate?

Thanks for your help!

Dear blonde-by-birth:  Underarm pain that is mild and bilateral (under both arms) is more likely to be muscular or cyclical.  However, if this doesn't resolve or if you are concerned, you should have your doctor take a look.
