Missed periods and severe swelling

I am very sorry I was not sure which section I was to go to regarding my menstral cycle.  

I am 22 years old and sexually active with my husband only.  About 9 months ago I began missing my period.  I did not have a period for exactly 6 months.  I saw several doctors, had blood work done and an ultrasound.  The doctors still had no answer for me.  After the sixth month I had a regular flow for 2 months an then it stopped again.  Now it has been close to 2 months since I have missed.  I have taken a pregnancy test and it showed negative.  I have horrible swelling.  It is normal for me to have swelling in my hands, but now it is in my ankles and legs.  I don't have mood swings or depression, but terrible discomfrot.  I am started to get worried about this.  

I also noticed this evening (not sure if this has anything to do with the problem) that right below my vagina the mucsle type part right below is quite large but not any pain involved.  I honestly don't know if this is regular because I have never felt this area before.
