Mom's breast

My 85 year old Mom was diagnosed with a Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) which is pre-cancerous. They want to do some kind of specific radiation treatment. What do ya'll think?

You didn't provide enough information for us to be able to offer a very helpful reply...

Your mom's doctors, who have available all of her test results and general health information would be in the best position to make treatment recommendations for her, and to provide information about her options.

I wonder if the "special radiation treatment" you  referred to might be Mammosite radiation? This would no doubt be much easier on her than standard radiation therapy, which often requires treatments 5 days per week for many weeks.  On the other hand, some people have reported side effects such as fluid collecting at the Mammosite site long after tx.

As I mentioned above, tx decisions are best made after frank and open discussions with her tx team, regarding of the pros and cons of any options offered to her.

Best wishes to both you and your mom...
