Mri

I was wondering if I can have a mammo with breast implants? Also, my lump is under my arm but in the breast tissue, would an MRI show the area under my arm?
One last question...I have been having shoulder and neck ache...could this have something to do with this darn lump?
I have appt next week. Just seeking answers now, i know that no one can diagnose without seeing and examining me, just need info.

Thank you for your response, and thank you for the info. I had my saline implants replaced with silicone gel two years ago, and I was not aware that I needed to have MRIs like that, this is very helpful to know and would have been a great bit of info for the doctor to have given me huh?
If I go in for this MRI to check for rupture, can I also have them check for lumps and bumps or is this a different thing all together? I mean would they only be looking for rupture or would they be able to find any abnormalities as well?

Thank you again, you seem to be very busy in keeping up with all our inquiries, please know that you are really making a difference for a lot of people.

Yes, you can have a mammogram with implants .... the procedure may be a little different than is normally done. It is also advised that your mammogram be done where a Radiologist who is experienced in reading this type of mammogram. If you have silicone implants it is recommended that you have an MRI 3 yrs. after your implants and every 2 years after that. This is to ck. for rupture though ....   With implants it does make mammograms less effective in discovering some abnormalities in the breast. I  don't know if your other symptoms would be realated to the breast lump or not ... I wouldn't think so but as you said it's impossible to be definite about anything over the internet.     Regards ....
