My mom discoverd red patches on her breast yesterday & I am concerned!

Yesterday my mom called me & wasn't feeling well. She is expecting her period & like usual has tender breasts & soreness but this time its a little more than usual. On top of that, she discovered red patches on her breast. I was really worried when I started to look up "red patches on breast" all that came up was IBC (inflammatory breast cancer) and now I am scared to death. Today she had her period and soreness and pain was reduced & she did notice a slight reduction in the patches as well. I am calling & making an appointment tomorrow with her gynecologist; however, has anyone ever had this? or experienced this? She has been really stressed out lately due to personal family issues going on currently. She never smoked or drank alcohol & is 49 years old. Can anyone please give me an insight as to what this possibly can be? Thanks so very much!

This could very well be hormone related as there are more symptoms associated with IBC than just red patches .... I gather from your post that the discomfort and the redness was present on both breasts. I'm a little puzzled that you are making an appointment for your Mother .... does she not see a Dr. regularly on her own and also have yearly Mammograms as is advised for women in her age range ?? If she doesn't I think she would be well advised to do so even without your assistance.  Regards ....
