My 12 year old daughter has a bruise on her breast

Hi,

My 12 year old daughter has started to develop and has breast buds however about 2 weeks ago she notice a greenish bruise on her right breast. She does not recall getting hurt and she says if she presses on it hard it hurts a bit more than the other breast however if she's touching lightly she feels no pain.

I'm a bit worry since the breast is such sensitive area to have a bruise.

As I mentioned it's been 2 weeks and the bruise looks about the same, same size and no improvement in colour is a greenish color. The bruise is really close to the niple and the size of a half of a canadian penny.
What could this be?

I took her to 2 different family doctors and they said that it looks just like a bruise that she may have hit herself wihtout noticing and it should resovle itself.

All this awful things come to my head, breast cancer, skin cancer..I want to put them out of my head but I see no improvement in the colour of the bruise as it's been 2 weeks adn it shoudl be getting lighter.

The only thing the doctors told me is to watch it and only come back if it grows bigger. Well it's the same colour and size since 2 weeks ago..pls provide your thoughts.

An inflammed vein wouldn't appear the way you describe and the Dr. certainly would have diagnosed it as such. If you are having such serious doubts then I suggest that you take your Daughter to a different Physician if this doesn't clear up in another 2 weeks or so but in many instances it takes a lot longer than 2 weeks for something like this to disappear completely. You might also be sure that your Daughter (or even you) isn't prodding or poking the area frequently which would delay the healing process.   Regards ...

Thanks for the answer. I don't know what to think anymore..the green colour almost looks like a vein as I noticed it's passing thrrough her body as the same green colour of the vein is on the so called bruise..could it be an inflaimed vein as it hasn't really really changed colours since 2 week ago???

I would say it's most likely a bruise .... it sometimes doesn't take much of an injury to produce one; often the person never remembers bumping or hitting the breast. Bruises often take a considerable length of time to lighten or go away. As a rule when the bruise is greenish in color it has been present for some time already; they are usually more of a purple color at first. I see no cause for alarm from your description ... just give it some time and these symptoms aren't an indication of breast cancer.   Regards ....
