My Daughter has Multiple cysts in her breasts

Hi, my daughter is 15 and has been told by our Doctor that she has multiple cysts in her breasts. Regularly these cause her a lot of pain. Our Doctor said she may have these until she has her first child. We've tried evening primrose, pain killers and currently hormone tablets, and nothing seems to be working. She gets very distressed at times. Can these cysts be removed? Is there anything else we can try? Thank you I await your response.

Hi,
Cysts are so common that almost every woman will have some during her life, including teenagers.
Breast cysts can appear at any age -- in teenagers and older women. This implies that cysts are related to the increasing hormone irregularity at this age and the pain is particularly felt prior to the menstrual cycle and subside after the menses finish. When cysts are very large and painful, they can be aspirated by a fine needle, but cysts could also recur.
Avoiding caffeine (Coffee, chocolate and colas) and also salty food, can lessen the pain felt in the breast.
Unfortunately there isn't much one can do about these cysts, many young women have this problem and as your doctor has suggested I hope that she will feel better when she'll have her first child.
Best wishes to both you and your daughter..
