Need info on breast MRI

So I've had this tender lump since last July, I've had 2 ultrasounds that didn't show anything. My doctor is able to feel it. He 1st suggested a surgical consult, I wasn't too keen on this idea...how can you biopsy something that won't show on ultrasound. Then he recommended MRI, which he said would actually be better. How is the MRI done? Lying? Standing? I can only feel the lump when I am leaning forward, the Dr can feel it when I am lying down.

Dear KeyD, I am referring you to a good resource that describes the breast MRI procedure.  You can go to the website www.breastcancer.org  if you type breast MRI into the search box there is a good description of the procedure.  Here is the direct link: http://www.breastcancer.org/symptoms/testing/types/mri/how_performed.jsp
