Nipple Pain

A couple days ago noticed a burning sensation that comes and goes in one of my nipples. The feeling is centralized and does not appear in any other part of the breast. The breast appears normal, no changes that I can see or feel. I have no history of breast cancer for as far back as I can see and I don't breastfeed or ever have.

Would like to know what it is. Since I have only had a couple days I guess I will wait and see, but if anyone has experienced something like this, let me know.

Hi - I noticed you had no replies as yet, so thought I would just write a few words of encouragement.  As you have only had the pain in your nipple for a short while, it may not be anything to be concerned about. Breast cancer does not usually present within a few weeks.

However, I am treated at a Breast Care Centre of Excellence in England (one of only 6, so I got lucky, living in an isolated Fort in Cornwall) and I can well remember my bc nurse admonishing me when I called it a Breast Cancer Centre. She said that the centre is not just for breast cancer, but for all breast problems, and that 90% of referrals are benign.

If your problem persists, I would definitely try and see a doctor or radiologist at a centre that has good experience of dealing with breast problems.

I belong to a UK based bc internet forum, under the auspices of a charity, and the women on there have taught me more than any doctor, be it surgeon or Oncologist. If you post, you will more than likely get a reply - we are a feisty, yet very sympathetic bunch, and always willing to share our experiences with others.
