Nipple leakage

I am 28 years old, I my youngest child is turning 4 years old soon and I still have milk or discharge from my breasts.  I notice it mostly while taking a bath because it leaks out while in the warm water.  I find that through the day my nipples become irritated a little itchy from the discharge drying.  I had an ultrasound done on one of my breasts that tends to be tender and there is some fulliness.  The results showed no lumps and I was told that my breasts were very dense and that it was very unlikley that at my age that it was cancer. I have a history of Breast Cancer in my family. I still am concerned about the discharge however I haven't really got an explaination to what it could be.

Hi thanks for your comments. I had breastfeed until she was 7 months old. Which means I haven't breastfeed in over 3 years.  The reason I stopped feeding was because I had to go away on an emergancy and even after expressing the milk I could not produce enough for the baby when I got back.  I had taken lataction pills for about a month but still couldn't produce enough fo the baby.

Hi.  Did you breastfeed your youngest child?  What was his age when he stopped breastfeeding?  It is possible for some women who are able to breastfeed their children until an advanced age (2-3 years old) to express milk for some time after they have stopped actively breastfeeding.

If you want to be sure about the nature of your breast discharge, it might be good to have it examined by a laboratory. But I would agree with your doctor that it is unlikely for you to have cancer at this time.
