After post lumpectomy (needle wired localization) biopsy report for 3mm DCIS with all clear margins, my surgeon sent me for radiation therapy. I met with a radiation oncologist for an initial consultation. He read the post-lumpectomy report and noticed that the pathologist didn't find a clip (from the previous biopsy) in the tissue my surgeon took out. They did removed wire, off course. My surgeon didn't mention about it. So, an oncologist is sending me to post-surgery mammogram. Is this common? Should I expect to have another lumpectomy to get a clip out, then another biopsy report, just making sure that a surgeon took out right spot?
