We all have the right to accept or refuse any and all treatment, whether it's prudent or not. I feel that the Taxol wouldn't have been recommended unless there were a very good reason for it; that being giving you the VERY BEST chance to survive without a recurrance. I will never advise any pt. in matters such as this .... only your Oncologist knows every detail of your particular case and he/she usually acts accordingly. I suggest you have an indepth discussion with your Dr. for a better understanding of the reasoning behind the Taxol recommendation.  Breast Cancer is also HARSH !!

Hi Amrine,

How are you holding up with your treatments?

Japdip is so smart and I agree with her totally.

Then there is the other part of me that says yes, try the taxol. A/C and Taxol attack different aspects of the cancer cells. So to my way of thinking, in order to have the best chance for survival, why only treat half of it? You're knee deep in treatment.... why not finish? I was allergic to that chemo so my last 3 were a mixture of carboplatin and gemzar and I've always wondered... were those chemo's aggressive enough?

I wish you the best and as always, the decision is yours. Can't say I blame you for not wanting to do more chemo. Whatever choice you make it will be the right one for YOU :)

It's hard, I wish I could say I know but I actually don't know. I never questioned anything my doctors told me to have or done and I would not have dared to, since I had no clue about these decisions, and never questioned them.

At one point my oncologist told me that he was wanting me to do hormone treatment in order to make himself feel better, and that was a little weird.

Then, as time went on, I was able to   evaluate recommendations but these usually had to do with tests and whether to have them or not.

Still, although I understand doctors make mistakes, so do I a lot.
