Pagent's Disease

by coco75, Oct 31, 2008 04:33AM
I am concerned that I have symptoms of pagents disease.  My right nipple haas a round rash the size of a half dollar.  The site is about to itch me to death, as well as my armpits.  When pressure is applied it is slightly  sore.  I have tried yeast infection creams and anti- fungas creams.  I have also tried cortaid and triple antibiotic ointments.  Recently I have been to a Rhuematologist because of extreme body aches, Blood work indicated a high level of AnA  antibodies 8.0 (1.0-3.0). He stated that I had a high level of inflammation.  I am being sent for a chest x-ray and breathing test due to symptoms of shortness of breath. I am to see a pulmonary specialists. The problem I have is that I did not tell the Dr. that I have the rash, He asked me twice and I said no beacause  I was embarrased because the rash appeared after intimate relations with my husband.  Then yesterday I received an e-mail from my aunt warning about Pagent;s Disease.  Should I tell the rhuematologist or the pulmonary specialist or both, this has me very concerned because my mother is survivor of breast cancer.

This discussion is related to Symptoms of Paget's Disease of Breast; should I be concerned?.

Hi.

I believe that you should tell all your doctors about anything that you are experiencing for these information are valuable in their overall assessment or impression of your condition.  However, I believe it is too early and very non specific to tell if this is indeed Paget's disease.  Paget's disease would present with eczematous lesions that can ulcerate, and may be associated with underlying breast tumors.  Other more common causes for rash in the nipples would include contact dermatitis and fungal or bacterial infections.

I suggest you have this looked at as well, but I think this will eventually turn out to be anything but Paget's disease.

Regards and God bless.
