Pain from armpit to left breast nipple

by Sen_DubILove, Jul 02, 2008 02:36AM
Thank you for this website! I have experienced left breast pain sporadically for the past 5 years. I had a Mammogram in 2005, 2007, and 2008. These Mammograms and Breast Exams have not shown anything of concern. I got implants in 2006. I nursed my second child for 14 months (2003-2004) and recall the pain sometime afterwards and still today.I often thought of it as a pulled muscle streamlined pain. (In the past few months I noticed the pain more often during my cycle and possibly when I have caffeine or gaseous foods. The pain seems to have spread to sometimes include just above my breast (more scary now) and possibly my left arm. I am going to ask for a MRI or Ultrasound next. Which would be best? And do you have suggestions for further internet research regarding this mysterious pain?

This discussion is related to Left breast increased in size swelling under arm.

There are really lots of pain syndromes in the body that does not offer any convincing explanations, but what is important is that all your work-ups are negative and does not point to anything serious.  This recent progression of pain may be due to several reasons most common of which is stress.  The possibility of impinged nerve can also be entertained.  A mammogram will be sufficient to rule out breast pathologies, however, MRI of the spine may be necessary if nerve impingment is entertained.

Regards.
