Pain in left breast.

I am a 30 year old male who has developed some type of mass in my left breast.  My initial consultation with our Family Physician was pretty basic, he assumed it was just an inflammation, and requested that I take an over the counter anti-inflammatory.  Yet, over a year later, the mass is larger and still painful.  The irritation comes and goes and is worse at times.  Since that time, my Physician has gone to another practice.  I will see a Nurse Pract. this Friday.  I worry that this could be worse than just an inflammation and have heard of other men having this same problem.  Is there some type of gland in this area that could easily become inflammed?  Should I be greatly concerned at this time?

I am new here, but if you were my Husband or brother, I would insist you find a doctor who would prescribe whatever test you need to get an answer! You should not panic, but you should not live in limbo (possibly letting something get worse) either. It will probably turn out to be nothing serious, but sweety - don't let yourself be put off any longer. I wish you the very best!

I had an ultrasound performed Last Friday.  They immediately sent me to have mammogram done.  After evaluation, it appears that I have grown extra breast tissue.  How has this happened?  Could it have stemmed from an injury to that area or what?  I don't know.  I have been referred to a surgeon to talk about options.  Thank you God that it is not cancer.  I still wonder what would cause this tissue to be painful.  Not just tender, but absolutely painful at times.

I wonder what would cause pain in regular breast tissue?  Anyone?

Dear mike248, Without evaluation it is impossible to say what this is.  Hopefully the nurse practitioner will be able to shed some light on what this may be and what additional evaluation, if any, is needed.
