Pain in the breast area and under the arm

I had a R.mastectomy last Nov.  Went through 5 months of Chemo which finished June 6th this year.
Moved on to 33 days of whole breast radiation 5 of which were boosts.  Finished radiation
on Aug. 16th.  Breast area is still quite red around mastectomy scar area from the 5 boosts.

I'm currently having a good deal of pain in the scar area and under my arm.  There is no significant swelling.
Any idea what may be the cause of my pain?  Also since I'm now rotating between seeing my breast surgeon
my Oncologist and my Radiation Oncologist which one would be the best to try and diagnose
the cause of my pain?

One additional question.  We are planning of driving to Florida for vacation later this year.  At this time
I do not have lymphodema and would like to prevent it.  Should I ask for an RX to be fitted for a compression
sleeve even though I do not have swelling?   I believe my insurance would cover the cost of only one.
Should I need another if I develop lymphodema in another size I double it would be covered.

I would think the discomfort you describe might well be a result of the Radiation. You might speak to the Radiation Oncologist about it and see if there is anything available that would give you some relief.
As to to your trip i see no additional risk for Lymphedema connected with this. If you were flying it might be a different thing but a road trip would pose no particular additional risk. I would follow whatever precautions you are taking now.  Regards..

there are many places who give out these fittings for free depending on what state your in. I would go with your general surgeon for the pain. Or primary doctor.
