Dear Aleksandra, A breast density could have various causes such as a cyst, a folding over of tissue, a thickening of tissue. Was an ultrasound done? An ultrasound is better at determining whether something is a fluid filled cyst. If not this test may shed more light on what this density is, if it has been done and a cyst has been ruled out further evaluation of the lump would likely be a biopsy. I would ask for clarification of the doctors assessment, if you are still concerned you might consider a second opinion.
In my opinion, when there is a new distinct lump in the breast, even if the mammogram and sonogram are ok, some form of biopsy must be strongly considered. There are various forms of biopsy: a fine-needle aspiration takes a few seconds, and often gives enough information. Or a core needle biopsy takes only a bit longer. The point is that xrays are not 100% accurate, and if a lump has appeared and is definitely a new finding, one must be very cautious.
I ALSO WENT TO THE DOCTOR 1/28 FOR PAINFUL LUMP IN LEFT ARM PIT AND DOCTOR FOUND LUMP IN BREAST. DCTR SAID LUMP IN ARMPIT IS LYMPH NODE AND PUT ON ANTIBIOTICS, STILL THERE AFTER NOW 6WKS,ALSO MAMO &ULTRASOUND SHOW "PROBABLY BENIGN" LUMP.WENT TO SURGEON 3/12 HE SAID IT IS PROBABLY NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THREE GENERATIONS OF BREAST CANCER MOTHERS SIDE.
