Painful breast

Over the last three weeks my right breast has been painful especially to the touch with a feeling of fullness. I am quite a large lady but have examined myself and been unable to find any lump under the arm or in the breast. I don't have any other symptoms such as high temperature.

Dear jan222it:  Breast cancer is not usually painful.  Painful breasts can be associated with infection, menstrual cycles, and many other things. If the pain persists, you may want to see a breast specialist for evaluation.  Regardless, if you are not up to date with your clinical breast exam and mammogram, it would be wise to get caught up on these screenings.

soreness involving the whole breast isn't very likely due to cancer; however, any persisting change, no matter what it is, needs to be evaluated. You should see your doctor.
