Painful fibroids

I just reasently went to see my Dr. because I found a lump in my left breast. Pinful under the arm and prest felt heavy.  Go the mamo, got the ultrasound- Fibroids. My Family docotrs saus "watch and wait"..  I am in lots of pain and the breast is swollen.  I want him to drain the cyst.  What is the best practice.  I have a strong family history ofbreast cancer.  I want them drained, what do you suggest?

I'm not quite clear as to exactly what was found on Mammogram and ultrasound. You say "fibroids" but this is not a word that is used relating to a breast condition. It is either Fibrocystic Breasts or Fibroadenomas of the breast. In either case if the lesions are terribly painful they can be removed surgically if such a procedure is recommended by a Breast Surgeon. This does not mean that they won't return though .... a good supportive bra and over the counter pain medication may help as well as reduction in the amount of your intake of caffeine. There would be no increased risk of breast cancer because of Fibrocystic Breast Condition.  Regards ....
