Montgomery glands are modified sweat glands. That being said, it is subject to the same pathologies or diseases that other sweat glands undergo. The mechanism behind what you are experiencing is similar to that of furuncles, boils, or acne.
This would start by blockage of the pore by dead skin cells or dirt, and this can later become infected with bacteria causing some purulence or pus formation.
It is best to keep the involved glands dry and clean. If you keep on getting this several times a month, I believe it is best to have this looked at by a doctor or a dermatologist.
