Painful lumps under arm

by Shark0012, Apr 29, 2006 12:00AM
I recently descovered that I have one huge painful lump under my right armpit.  On the other arm I have a smaller lump but its not located in the same spot.  Could these be caused by a deoterant reaction?  I am really scared.  The big lump hurts a lot and is about the size of a quarter in shape but really hard and painful.  If someone could please help me out.  I'm young and scared.

Dear shark0012:  A lump like this could be several things, including some type of inflammation or infection.  Without evaluation, it is impossible to make a diagnosis or treatment recommendation.  You should have your doctor examine this to determine what it is and make appropriate treatment recommendations.

Dear shark0012: I had painful lumps under my arms as a teenager.  They turned out to be secondary breast tissue under the arms.  They tended to swell and hurt worse when I had my period, just like your breasts.  I don't know if this is your problem, but just a thought.
