post lumpectomy path report

final diagnosis left breast excisional lumpectomy: infiltrating lobular classic, 1.5cm measured from slide, ductal carcinoma in-situ (25% of the total tumor)intermediate nuclear grade, DCIS pattern cribriform woth necrosis and micropapillary type.  LCIS absent.  resection margins free.  all specimens were examinded fresh.  will be taking a ct scan and then meeting with radiologist.  surgeon feels i can do brachytherapy radiation treatment.  i do not want to do chemo.  was not able to determine from the report any reference to receptors.  please explain the report to me please.

Dear Zaraza:  This means that the invasive cancer is lobular in type.  The entire tumor size is 1.5 cm.  25% of the specimen is ductal carcinomal in situ (The grade and pattern describe the way the cells are growing and how they look on the slide).  On this report, I see no reference to the size of the invasive part of the cancer or the hormonal status of this tumor.  You may wish to clarify with your physician.
