What does positive Cerb-B2 score 3 means?

Hi there!

CERBB2 is a surface protein found mostly in breast cancer cells which if positive, indicates a more aggressive tumor and therefore faster spread and progression compared to that of a tumor who is negative for this protein.  This protein, when overexpressed in a breast cancer cell would lead to increased proliferation of the cancer cells.

There are drugs presently available to target this CERBB2 and has been very effective both in clinical trials and the real world setting.  These drugs are known as Lapatinib and Trastuzumab.
