Persistant Seroma?

by hipyathrt, Jul 23, 2009 01:12AM
I had a mastectomy 2 years ago and I still have an area below the surgery site that gets swollen and is very painful to touch.  Occasionally it will disappear only to swell up again.  Is this dangerous?  I was just diagnosed with bc to my left breast.  Paranoid that swelling could be more than seroma....maybe cancer?  If you have any knowledge of this, please let me know.  Thank you for being there.

As far as the area of swelling is concerned I'm wondering if this might possibly be lymphedema of the trunk/chest. I would doubt that a seroma would still be present after the length of time you indicate since your mastectomy. Has this area ever been drained ? If it were a seroma I would think it would have been or another drain inserted.  Regards ....
