I had a fast growing "Phylloide Tumor" w/spindle cells removed by "wide excision". I had hoped to know something at least as to what it looked like. Can you tell me how long until I get the results from pathology?
Different centers have different procedures and logistics regarding the handling, processing, reading, and eventual reporting of pathological specimens. The time it takes would be between 3-7 days. Some highly specialized centers can report the pathology within 48 hours.
Phylloides tumor is a malignancyHyperpigmentation w/malignancy Malignancy arising from the connective tissue or stromal components of the breast, in contrast with the classic breast cancer which arises from the breast ducts or lobules. This would appear as spindle or elongated cells. The treatment of wide excision is usually sufficient as long as adequate margins are achieved around the tumor (about 1-2cms).
